Schaedlich leads after day 2a of WSOP main event

2008-07-09 14:47:20

Brian Schaedlich is the overnight chip leader in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event, following the conclusion of day 2a.

Schaedlich has a sizable advantage over the rest of the field, with David Rheem, Brandon Adams, Ron Adams and Jeremiah Smith his closest rivals.

Patrik Antonius, who put in a good performance on day one, stumbled a little during last night's action but still made it through to the third round, as did Vanessa Rousso, Hoyt Corkins, Chau Giang and Steve Zolotow.

Hoping to join them from day 2b will be Johnny Chan, Carlos Mortensen and Phil Hellmuth, three players who both know what it is like to win the biggest prize in live tournament poker.

Gus Hansen will also attempt to survive to day three this evening and is looking to replicate his success at the same stage last year, when he concluded day two in first place.
