Kostritstyn heads the pros in WSOP main event

Alexander Kostritsyn is sitting in the best position out of the big name players in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event in Las Vegas.

The Russian is not too far away from first place after day three with almost one million chips.

Jeremy Joseph and Jeremiah Smith are among the leaders, according to various sources, while the likes of Johnny Chan, Phil Hellmuth and Mike Matusow all have respectable chip stacks.

Gus Hansen and Allen Cunningham are two other top players still in the competition, while Men Nguyen, Chau Giang and Vanessa Rousso have been eliminated.

The money bubble broke part way through the day and everyone left in the tournament is guaranteed to walk away tens of thousands of dollars richer than they were when they started playing last week.

Kostritsyn may be familiar to poker enthusiasts due to his appearance on Channel 4's Premier League poker show.
