Seidel in unprecedented POY position

Erik Seidel is in a good position to pull off an unprecedented feat in 2008.
The Las Vegas resident is the clear leader in Card Player's player of the year (POY) rankings and lies in a close second-place in an equivalent competition run by Bluff Magazine.
No other competitor has managed to win both awards before and Seidel will need to maintain his excellent form for the rest of the year if he is to a stand a chance.
Ahead of him in Bluff's rankings is Men Nguyen, who has won the Card Player competition on four occasions in the last decade but is only 20th this year.
Behind him is Michael Binger, who lies second with Card Player, ahead of Erick Lindgren, the World Series of Poker POY.
Lindgren is seventh with Bluff, with Shannon Shorr, JC Tran and Alexander Kostritsyn all ahead of him.
John Phan, who is sixth with Card Player and 12th with Bluff, could make a strong challenge in both tables should he manage victory in the Bellagio Cup IV main event tonight.
