Bellagio Cup impacts POY rankings

The Bellagio Cup IV World Poker Tour (WPT) championship event has had a big impact upon the top of Card Player's player of the year (POY) standings.
David Benyamine's second-place finish lifted him into third position overall with 4,138 points.
Meanwhile, John "Razor" Phan's fifth place helped him to go one further than the Frenchman, putting him in second with 4,181.
Erik Seidel still leads with a grand total of 4,580.
Mike Watson, who won the WPT competition, is now 25th in the rankings, while Luke Staudenmaier's third was good enough to lift him to 88th in the table.
Ralph Perry, who was fourth, is now 37th in the standings, while sixth-placed Gabriel Thaler is 348th.
In an illustration of how important the POY competitions can be to some players, Shannon Shorr wrote in his latest blog post he was disappointed to finish outside the money in a tournament at the Orleans Hotel & Casino because it would have put him up to sixth.
