Hellmuth loses online poker game to Nordberg

2008-07-21 16:12:06

Phil Hellmuth has revealed he lost $17,000 in a recent game of Chinese poker against Peter "Nordberg" Feldman.

The Poker Brat played the 2006 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit championship winner on the internet, along with Roland De Wolfe, he wrote in his Card Player blog.

Hellmuth was down $20,000 at one stage to the European Poker Tour and World Poker Tour titlist, but managed to battle his way back, finishing the match all square.

It is not the first time this summer that Hellmuth has been seen playing Chinese poker.

The 11-time WSOP titlist was caught enjoying the game on numerous occasions throughout this year's World Series at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.

Chinese poker is not currently big enough to be included in the WSOP's 54-event schedule, although it does appear to be growing in popularity.

It did make an appearance in 1995 and 1996, but has not been used since.
