Stars gear up for LAPT Uruguay

2008-08-07 16:17:07

Some of poker's biggest names are preparing to take part in the Uruguay leg of the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT), which gets underway later today.

Greg Raymer, the 2005 World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event winner, three-time WSOP bracelet holder Barry Greenstein and Chad Brown are among the big names who will be attendance, according to the competition's official website.

The $2,500 buy-in tournament takes place at the Mantra Resort Spa Casino in Punta del Este, with the field-size capped at 300.

This means the prize fund for the occasion will not go above $750,000 - a sum which Greenstein has already won more than in the last two months.

It is the third stage of the LAPT, which has already visited Brazil and Costa Rica so far since May.

Valdemar Kwaysser won the last tournament in San Jose, emerging from a nine-man final table with $274,103 in prize money.
