Hansen through to day two of PPT Cannes

Gus Hansen successfully negotiated the first day's play in the Partouche Poker Tour (PPT) main event in Cannes this week.
The Great Dane, who holds an unparalleled three World Poker Tour titles, wrote in his blog that he was joined on day 1a by Chris Ferguson and Scotty Nguyen, as well as "several other names pros", although he did not reveal how they got on.
Hansen has not won a major competition since the start of 2007, when he took down the Aussie Millions event in Melbourne for $1.2 million.
However, he has managed two fifth-place finishes since then in the 2007 WPT Spanish Championship and the 2008 NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship.
The Monaco-resident came the closest to another victory at the 2008 WPT Championship, where he lost a massive heads-up lead to David Chiu and was eventually forced to settle for the runner-up spot and a $1.714 million consolation prize.
