Online qualifiers "the key" to EPT's success

The burgeoning success of the European Poker Tour (EPT) is mostly down to online qualifiers, an expert has suggested.
InsidePoker magazine's Alan Bowden claimed that the main reason why the EPT can boast such high turnouts and big prize money is because so many of the competitors win their seats on the Tour from poker websites.
"The success of the tour is definitely heavily linked to the huge amount of people who qualify online," he remarked, adding that the more online poker grows, the more likely it is that the EPT's events will grow.
Mr Bowden also claimed that it is the internet qualifiers that should be watched, as these are the competitors who "dedicate their whole lives to playing poker" and sometimes manage to come away with final table finishes and tournament victories.
Season five of the EPT got underway last night with the Barcelona Open, which takes place at Casino Barcelona in Spain.
