Baron back up to 15th in OPOY competition

2008-09-17 12:07:57

Card Player's reigning online player of the year (OPOY) Isaac 'westmenloAA' Baron is back in the hunt to retain his title after scoring 624 points in the last eight days.

The Californian had been steadily dropping down the rankings in recent months, after his promising start to the season was offset by a points drought that began on May 18th.

However, his near four-month wait to score again came to an end on September 9th when he picked up 24 points for finishing 17th in a big event on Tuesday.

He followed this up four days later by finishing second in another major tournament, which earned him a further 600 points.

Baron now lies in 15th place with a total of 4,170, which leaves him 1,736 points behind overall leader Brian 'SNo0oWMAN' Hawkins.

Perhaps one reason why Baron did not manage to score for so long is because he turned 21 over the summer, making him able to compete in live poker tournaments across the US for the first time.
