Daniel Negreanu has suggested that luck had a lot to do with his performance on day 1b of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Europe main event.
The Canadian, who is chasing his fifth WSOP bracelet - and his second of the year - wrote in his Full Contact Poker blog that he was given a pair of kings twice and a pair of queens in the first hour of the tournament alone.
"It helps when you make a ton of hands and I definitely did that," he remarked.
"In fact, throughout the day I didn't make any big bluffs
and never lost a pot with 10,000 in it."
Negreanu finished the day firmly in the lead as he continued his good form at the Casino at the Empire in London's Leicester Square.
A player who did not have such an easy time of it on Sunday was Phil Hellmuth, the biggest bracelet winner in WSOP history.
He wrote in his Card Player blog that the day was "hard fought" and he was almost eliminated at one stage.
