Juanda wins WSOP bracelet number four

2008-10-03 12:16:00

John Juanda won his fourth gold bracelet on Friday morning in the main event of the 2008 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Europe.

The Indonesian-born Californian entered the final table of the event in the chip lead, but was forced to battle hard all the way by stiff opposition.

He eventually triumphed after an epic heads-up with Stanislav Alekhin, in which he was behind numerous times, Poker News reports.

The end came when Alekhin pushed all-in pre-flop with ace-nine and Juanda called with king-six. Three more sixes came down on the board and Juanda became the champion with quads.

He picked up £868,800 ($1.53 million) for his troubles and joins an exclusive list of just under 35 players who have won four WSOP bracelets or more during their careers.

WSOP November Nine member Ivan Demidov finished third, followed by Bengt Sonnert, Daniel Negreanu, Scott Fischman, Robin Keston, Toni Hiltunen and Chris Elliott.
