Hellmuth reveals online poker troubles

2008-10-21 12:00:41

Phil Hellmuth has revealed that he has not enjoyed much success of late playing poker online.

In his Card Player blog, the 11-time World Series of Poker bracelet holder claimed to have lost in the region of $120,000 competing on the internet over the last two-and-half months.

This is on top of previous losses of about $180,000, which have left him ahead in terms of career online earnings by just $250,000.

Hellmuth explained that the reason for him not winning is because he does not treat internet poker as a job and tends to play it in the evenings when he is tired.

He stated that he hopes to remedy this in the future and cut down to playing just two or three hours a day in order to stay fresh.

"If I'm going to play in the big games online, then I need to give it proper focus and treat it like a job," the Poker Brat remarked.

Hellmuth's losses are easily covered by the amount he has won on the live tournament circuit during 2008, having earned more than $600,000 since the year began.
