'Elky' wins WPT Festa al Lago title

The latest World Poker Tour stop saw Bertrand "Elky" Grospellier jump ten places in Bluff magazine's Player of the Year (POY) competition following his $1.41 million victory at the event.
According to the magazine, Grospellier was ranked in 12th place before the Festa al Lago championship event, in which he eliminated all five poker players at the final table.
In addition to his World Poker Tour title, he gained 375 POY points, bringing him into second place behind John Phan.
A resident of France, Grospellier previously placed first at the 2008 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, earning a $2 million prize and 370 POY points.
At Festa al Lago, the last player he eliminated was Nam Le - who is mentored by Tuan Le and finished with a runner-up prize of $943,215.
Odie Dardon, age 35, ranked in third place at the event, which took place at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
