Doyle Brunson has suggested that a match-up between Phil Ivey and Walter 'Puggy' Pearson could have been one of the best in the history of poker.
The Texas Dolly wrote in his blog that he saw a clip of Pearson on television last week and claimed that he should be looked upon as one of the true pioneers of the sport of card playing.
"He was a ruthless player who would do anything to win but he never pretended to be anything else," Brunson remarked.
"I would have loved seeing him and Phil Ivey go at it."
Pearson, who died in 2006, won four World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets during his career and was inducted into the sport's hall of fame in 1987 - the year before Brunson.
Ivey on the other hand holds five WSOP bracelets and a World Poker Tour title and is widely revered as one of the best poker players on the circuit today.
