Phillips: I'm a better player now than in the summer

World Series of Poker main event chip leader Dennis Phillips has suggested that his opponents should expect him to play better when the tournament resumes later this month.
The 53-year-old Missourian told the Casino City Times that he has improved his game over the last few months by seeking help and advice from anyone he felt could help him sharpen up.
"I have to admit it, the break has been good for my game," he remarked. "I think I'm probably a better player now than in July."
Phillips leads the final table with 26,295,000 chips, giving him a slight advantage over second-placed Ivan Demidov (24,400,000).
He is a marginal favorite in the sports betting to take the title and $9 million prize money, although Daniel Negreanu believes that Demidov will actually come out on top.
Kid Poker wrote in his Full Contact Poker blog that he has experience of playing against the Russian and feels he is in a good position to win.
