Negreanu: WSOP main event delay a success

2008-11-11 12:10:52

The decision to delay the final table of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event to November has been a good one, one top card sharp has suggested.

Daniel Negreanu, a four-time WSOP bracelet holder and one of the biggest names in the sport, wrote in his Full Contact Poker blog after day one that "the atmosphere was indescribable", while TV ratings were up on last year.

Indeed, he implied that the delay has proven so successful that nobody could have expected it.

"It was a truly historic moment and for those questioning whether the delay was a good idea, the answer is a resounding yes," Kid Poker remarked.

Despite repeated attempts and recent claims that it is not difficult to do well in the WSOP main event, Negreanu has never reached the final table.

His best finish to date was 11th place, which he achieved back in 2001.
