Dragon roars into third in POY race

Card Player's reigning player of the year (POY) David 'The Dragon' Pham has climbed up to third place in the 2008 competition.
The Vietnamese-American finished fourth in the World Poker Tour World Poker Finals this week to take his overall points tally to 5,222 points.
This lifted him ahead of Ivan Demidov (4,940), who had sat in third position for just one day.
John Phan continues to lead with 6,704 points, followed by Bertrand Grospellier on 5,410.
Pham has been one of the most consistent POY performers in recent years, not only winning the title in 2007, but also finishing 12th in 2006 and runner-up in 2004.
His score of 7,068 in that year is among the highest in the history of the competition.
Notable finishes this year include making final tables on the European Poker Tour and at the LA Poker Classic, Bellagio Cup IV and Festa Al Lago.
