Negreanu praises Eastgate's tactics

2008-11-13 13:35:39

Daniel Negreanu has spoken out to praise the way Peter Eastgate played during the final table of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event this week.

The four-time WSOP bracelet holder and double World Poker Tour champion suggested in his Full Contact Poker blog that the 22-year-old Dane was right to take a cautious approach - a tactic that eventually paid off with victory.

"He played excellent poker, essentially taking the small ball approach to the extreme," Negreanu remarked. "He stayed patient and waited for his opponents to hang themselves."

Negreanu is one of the main advocates of playing small ball - a tactic that involves managing pot sizes in order to minimise the risk of going bust - in no-limit hold'em tournaments.

He details how to employ this tactic and why it can be successful in his latest book Power Hold'em Strategy, which has a three-star user rating on Amazon.co.uk.
