Four-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu has warned budding poker players that they should not be willing to risk a big chip stack on a marginal hand.
In an article that appeared on the Arizona Daily Star website, the Canadian said that competitors need to look after above-average stacks and make sure they calculate the pot odds first before getting involved in a proverbial coin-flip.
"A big chip stack is something that should be protected and not gambled away," Kid Poker remarked.
"There's just no need to risk a big chip stack in a 50-50 coin-flip situation."
Negreanu gave the example of a race between pocket sixes and ace-king as something that a poker player should not be getting involved in if they are in the lead.
The double World Poker Tour titlist revealed in his Full Contact Poker blog last week that he will be taking part in the fourth annual BC Poker Championship on November 24th.
