Over 360 turn up for APPT Sydney day 1a

2008-12-02 11:57:44

More than 360 people turned up to take part on day 1a of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Sydney main event.

According to the competition's official website, Chad Brown, Vanessa Rousso and David Saab were among the big names who showed up, while World Series of Poker main event winners Chris Moneymaker, Joe Hachem and Peter Eastgate are expected to appear during days 1b and 1c.

Over 400 competitors have registered for the event so far, taking the prize pool to approximately AU$2.4 million (US$1.53 million).

Of that amount, AU$1 million has been guaranteed to go to the winner.

Last year, Grant Levy picked up that prize with the rest of the $3.66 million money pot spread between 54 other players, including Lee Nelson and Scotty Nguyen.

The main event will conclude on December 7th after six days of action, with those failing to reach the final table able to compete in a $15,000 high rollers tournament on December 6th.
