Russian Poker Tour announced

A new poker tour will be launched during 2009 in Russia, it has been announced.
According to Card Player magazine, the first season of the tour will consist of two events, the first of which will be a $5,000 buy-in in St Petersburg on January 25th.
Moscow will host the follow-up $10,000 tournament, which takes place a month later on February 22nd.
Russia has grown into a major poker power in recent years, producing several of the world's most feared competitors.
Among them are Ivan Demidov - the 2008 World Series of Poker main event runner-up - and the 2008 Aussie Millions main event winner Alexander Kostritsyn.
It remains to be seen how many stars of the poker circuit will head to Russia to take part in these new tour events.
January is a traditionally busy month on the poker calendar, with the Borgata Winter Poker Open, the Aussie Millions and the European Poker Tour Caribbean Adventure all taking place within a space of a few weeks.
