Shannon Shorr will not have to pay $15,000 to enter the main event of the Five Diamond World Poker Classic on Saturday after successfully negotiating a satellite tournament.
Shorr wrote in his blog that he has won a seat in the competition through a satellite every year since 2006 and was glad to do so again in 2008.
Now he no longer has to qualify, he plans to spend the time leading up to the World Poker Tour (WPT) tournament relaxing and competing in a $5,000 preliminary event.
"It's always nice to lock up the seat early, although I obviously would direct buy even if I didn't satellite in," the Alabaman remarked.
Shorr has yet to reach a final table of a WPT tournament, although he has cashed on three occasions, with his highest finish 13th in the 2007 Mirage Poker Showdown.
In the same year he also finished 73rd in the main event of the Five Diamond, earning $28,905.
