Poker tops search engine list for third-year running

'Poker' was the most used search term of 2008, according to Lycos.
In its annual list, the internet portal found that poker was searched for more than anything else this year, with five per cent more activity than second-placed Paris Hilton.
YouTube was third, followed by golf, Sarah Palin, Britney Spears, Clay Aiken, Pamela Anderson, Facebook and Holly Madison.
It is the third year in a row that poker has come out on top, with Lycos putting the sport's high profile down to "the continued success of the World Poker Tour (WPT) and year-round televised celebrity poker tournaments".
The 2008 part of the WPT is set to come to an end next week with the culmination of the $15,000 buy-in Doyle Brunson Classic Championship, which gets underway at the Bellagio Casino in Las Vegas on Saturday (December 13th).
In 2007, $2.48 million was presented to the winner Eugene Katchalov, while second-placed Ted Kearly also won a millionaire's sum.
