Shorr reaches day two of $5k Five Diamond preliminary

2008-12-12 16:04:20

Shannon Shorr managed to successfully negotiate day one of the $5,000 Five Diamond World Poker Classic preliminary event on Thursday, he has revealed.

Writing in his blog, the Alabaman said that he has a below-average chip stack of 87,000 going into day two, with 27 players left in the competition.

At times, Shorr was the chip leader, holding approximately 122,000 chips at one stage, but his fortunes changed later on and he is now 51,000 chips behind the average count.

"There are a lot of very good players left. Tomorrow will be a long day," he remarked. "Hopefully when it's all said and done I ship the $400,000 first prize."

Of the 27 remaining competitors, the top 18 will win prize money.

Shorr has managed to cash in a live tournament only once in the last five months, due mostly to his time away from the poker circuit while he has been attending college.
