Houghton in last minute dash for OPOY award

Laurence 'whateriver1' Houghton has surged up Card Player's online player of year (OPOY) rankings over the last month and now lies in fifth position with two weeks left to go in 2008.
Houghton picked up 1,800 points during November, although he will have to improve on this during December as he currently lies 2,318 points behind frontrunner Alex 'AJKHoosier1' Kamberis.
His total of 6,946 points puts him on the cusp of being the seventh man in history to break through the 7,000-point barrier, but he faces strong competition for that honor from Mark 'dipthrong' Herm, who sits behind him in sixth position in the table on 6,874.
Daniel 'djk123' Kelly is 104 points ahead of Houghton in fourth, behind Brian 'SNo0oWMAN' Hawkins, who led for several month mid-season.
Steve 'gboro780' Gross is the only competitor left within one major victory of toppling Kamberis at the top, 1,320 points of the pace.
