Sung heads up Doyle Brunson Classic final table

2008-12-19 12:29:17

Steve Sung will go into the final table of the World Poker Tour (WPT) Doyle Brunson Classic tonight as the chip leader.

The Korean card sharp, who narrowly missed out on a WPT title earlier this year when he finished second in the Bay 101 Shooting Star event, takes a stack of 5,885,000 chips with him through to the last day, giving him a lead of 1,080,000 over second-placed Evan McNiff.

David 'Chino' Rheem, who played in the most watched final table of all time in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event earlier this year, is third with 4,240,000 chips, followed by Amnon Filippi (2,750,000), Justin Young (2,410,000) and Hoyt Corkins (2,295,000).

Of the big name players to be eliminated on the penultimate day, Clonie Gown went home in seventh and Mike Matusow was knocked out in ninth.

Corkins is arguably the most experienced player at the final table, having won two WSOP bracelets during his career.
