Low-stakes WSOP events 'offer best value'

Low-stakes tournaments with large fields, such as $1,500 no-limit Texas hold'em competitions, are among the best value events to play at the World Series of Poker (WSOP), it has been claimed.
Roy Winston, a World Poker Tour titlist, recommended in his Card Player blog that if someone has to choose just a few events to take part in, they should go for one of these as the general skill level will be lower than in the bigger buy-in tournaments.
"In general, the larger the buy-in, the stronger the field - with the one major exception being the WSOP main event," he remarked.
For that competition he advised that card sharps attempt to qualify via a satellite tournament so they can potentially participate for a lower cost than the standard $10,000 buy-in.
Men Nguyen is one famous poker player who has had great success on the circuit over the years by taking part in low-stakes events that many of his contemporaries do not enter.
