Shannon Shorr has revealed that he made more money playing poker during 2008 than in any other year since his career as a professional card sharp began.
The 23-year-old Alabaman wrote in his blog that it has been a great turnaround on last year, when he was so upset with posting a loss for the 12-month period that he was considering quitting the sport.
"Things have worked out though and I'm very grateful for what the game has provided me," he remarked.
Shorr spent much of the end of 2008 away from poker as he attended college, meaning that he played less cards over the course of the year than he ever has before.
Despite the layoff, he still managed to finish 19th in Card Player's player of the year competition and earned approximately $900,000 from live tournaments alone.
His last cash came in a preliminary event at the Five Diamond World Poker Classic in the middle of December.
