Obama 'knew Negreanu and Ivey by name'

Poker hall-of-famer Doyle Brunson has revealed further the extent of president-elect Barack Obama's poker fandom.
The Texas Dolly wrote in his blog that Mr Obama is "an avid poker player" and even knew two of the sport's biggest stars when he met with them recently.
"I know [Phil] Ivey and [Daniel] Negreanu both met Obama and he knew them by name so he for sure has an interest in poker," he remarked.
Mr Obama's passion for poker was covered heavily in the gambling press throughout his US election campaign, with groups such as the Poker Players Alliance backing him in the belief that he will support the sport once he gets into office.
Indeed, Negreanu and Brunson both wrote in their respective blogs that they wanted Mr Obama to defeat rival John McCain, who has a reputation for being a gambling fan himself, having been seen enjoying himself numerous times on craps tables.
