Kamberis confirmed as OPOY 2008

Alex 'AJKHoosier1' Kamberis has been confirmed as Card Player's online player of the year (OPOY) for 2008.
The internet card sharp finished the season with a record-breaking 9,424 points, a total of 1,470 points ahead of second-placed Steve 'gboro780' Gross.
Brian 'SNo0oWMAN' Hawkins was third on 7,264 points, followed by Philip 'USCphildo' Collins (7,160) and Shaun 'shaundeeb' Deeb.
The standard of play in 2008 appeared to be higher than that of 2007.
Kamberis' score was 1,120 points better than Isaac 'westmenloAA' Baron achieved when winning the previous competition and six players managed get past the 7,000-point barrier in 2008, compared to two the year before.
Baron was also unable to finish inside the top 25, ending the season in 35th place on 5,036 points.
The 2009 OPOY has already gotten underway, with stoledog off to an early lead on 1,440 points after taking down a major tournament on Sunday January 4th.
