The European Poker Tour (EPT) Caribbean Adventure, which is taking place this week in Nassau, Bahamas, is to pay out more than $1 million to the top three finishers, it has been reported.
In most major poker competitions, only the winner normally walks away with a seven-figure sum, but the vast number of people competing this week has led to a situation where the champion will take $3 million, the runner-up will get $1.7 million and the third-place finisher will receive $1.1 million, according to Card Player magazine.
By comparison, last month's World Poker Tour Doyle Brunson Classic paid approximately half that amount to its top three, with $1.5 million going to champion David 'Chino' Rheem, $936,760 to second-placed Justin Young and $540,440 to Evan McNiff in third.
A total of 199 people will land in the money, with the base payout set at $12,500.
Everyone inside the top 13 will receive upwards of $100,000.
