Ivey agrees to Durrr's $1 million challenge

It did not take long for Tom 'Durrr' Dwan to have his $1 million heads-up poker challenge accepted.

Card Player magazine reports that five-time World Series of Poker bracelet holder and reigning LA Poker Classic champion Phil Ivey told Barry Greenstein on PokerRoad that he had agreed to the one-on-one match-up, which will see at least 50,000 hands played over four separate online tables.

Dwan will put up $1.5 million, while his opponent - who he specifies can be anyone other than Phil Galfond - only has to wager $500,000, with the winner of the $200/$400 minimum stakes match taking all of the prize money.

David Benyamine reportedly has the first shot at playing Dwan if he wants to, but he told Card Player he is still considering the offer.

Patrik Antonius and numerous other top professionals are said by Ivey to also be contemplating the game, which could take as long as a month by Greenstein's estimates.

Poker-King stated that outside of Antonius and Ivey, it is difficult to see who else would accept the challenge, although it did mention Benyamine and Ilari Sahamies as possibilities.
