Grospellier becomes Caribbean Adventure High Rollers champion

2009-01-09 14:12:56

Bertrand Grospellier has followed up his victory in last year's European Poker Tour (EPT) Caribbean Adventure tournament with a win in this year's spin-off High Rollers competition.

The Frenchman defeated Will Molson in the heads-up of the $25,000 buy-in event to take the title and the first-place prize of $433,500, Card Player magazine reported.

Scott Seiver was third, followed by Liya Gerasimova, Humberto Brenes, Eli Elezra, Daniel Alaei and Nick Schulman.

The top eight finishers give an indication of the large number of big name players who took part in the competition, with Erik Seidel, Gus Hansen, Daniel Negreanu, Joe Hachem, Chris Ferguson and Greg Raymer all competing unsuccessfully.

Grospellier is beginning to develop a reputation for starting off the poker year with a major result.

In addition to his $2 million victory in the Caribbean Adventure main event in January 2008, he also managed to come second for $399,389 in EPT Copenhagen in January 2007.
