Hellmuth exhausted after "busy" 2008

Phil Hellmuth has revealed that he was left so physically drained at the end of 2008 that he went to bed before midnight on New Year's Eve and didn't wake up until 19 hours later.
Writing in his Card Player blog, the Poker Brat stated that he was too tired to go out, drink or play poker on the night and decided not to compete in a potentially lucrative poker game a week earlier for the same reason.
He had been invited to play in a televised cash game featuring two billionaires for High Stakes Poker on December 20th, but felt he was too exhausted to take part, even though he had won $250,000 in a similar match-up earlier in the year.
Hellmuth wrote: "2008 was a busy and stressful year for me and all of the travel and stress had really worn me down."
Despite his busy year, Hellmuth was relatively quiet in terms of live tournament success, cashing twice on the World Poker Tour, once in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Europe and five times at the WSOP in Las Vegas.
