European Poker Tour (EPT) Caribbean Adventure winner Poorya Nazari has told Card Player magazine that Dustin Dirksen was the toughest opponent he had to face on the way to his first major title.
The field in Nassau, Bahamas contained more than 1,300 competitors, including numerous World Series of Poker, World Poker Tour and EPT champions.
But Nazari claimed that the relatively unheralded Dirksen stood out above the rest.
"I think his game is really impressive," he remarked. "He tended to play a lot of pots in position, and he three-bet a lot preflop to put you in tough spots."
Dirksen went on to finish sixth in the tournament, earning $400,000 compared to the $3 million won by Nazari.
It was his third high-profile final table inside a year, having finished second and fifth in two events at the 2008 World Series of Poker.
