Demidov in the hunt after Aussie Millions day 1b

Ivan Demidov was among the frontrunners on day 1b of the Aussie Millions main event in Melbourne.
The 2008 World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event runner-up was the day's seventh best performer and will take 81,925 chips into day two of the competition.
Brett Daphne accrued the most chips during the day's action with 120,250, followed by Joe Malone (112,400), Sam Vakili (106,300), Ali Ghezelbash (92,575) and Michael Tureniec (91,625).
Several big names went to the rail on day 1b, including five-time WSOP bracelet holder Chris Ferguson, reigning Aussie Millions champion Alexander Kostritsyn and eight-time WSOP winner Erik Seidel.
Jeff Lisandro and Tony Dunst were also knocked out of the event.
Day 1c of the tournament gets underway later today (January 20th) with the largest number of participants of the opening days expected.
The eventual winner of the competition is guaranteed to receive at least A$2 million ($1.3 million).
