Khan takes the lead in OPOY race

Hafiz Khan has surged into the lead in Card Player's online player of the year (OPOY) competition after winning one of the first big internet tournaments of 2009 on Sunday.
The 2008 European Poker Tour Caribbean Adventure runner-up, who plays on the internet as hafizzle, picked up 1,440 points for coming first in one competition over the weekend and secured a further 54 points for finishing 11th in a subsequent event.
His overall total of 1,494 gives him a lead of 42 points over second-placed LosChief, who is a further 12 points ahead of stoledog, livelikunger and bigdennys in joint third.
Mohsin 'chicagocars1' Charania is sixth on 1,418 points, followed by Steve 'gboro780' Gross on 1,254.
Gross was second in last year's competition and is one of two competitors who finished in the top 20 in 2008 to be up at the top of the table again this January.
The other is Hunter 'HEMIpowerSWT' Frey, who was 11th last year and now sits in 20th place on 1,156 points.
