A number of new stops have been added to the 2009 World Poker Tour (WPT) Boot Camp schedule, organisers have announced.
The training event, now in its fifth year, is set to move beyond casino towns such as Atlantic City and Las Vegas and will now also be held at locations such as New York, Chicago, Orlando, San Jose and Dallas for the first time, according to Rob Rubens, founder of the WPT Boot Camp.
"We're now bringing our boot camps to our clients rather than making our clients come to us," he said.
More than 130 boot camps have been held to date, with over 6,000 participants since 2004.
Mr Rubens said that a number of alumni are now playing poker professionally.
"I get emails from past students daily who are making serious income from poker since taking their boot camps," he said.
Camps have been scheduled in New York and Chicago in April.
