Doyle Brunson has suggested that high stakes poker in the US would be much better at the moment if his old friend David 'Chip' Reese were still alive.
The Texas Dolly wrote in his blog that few poker players are prepared to start a high stakes cash game on their own these days, unlike three-time World Series of Poker bracelet holder Reese who was always willing to get a match underway.
Brunson claimed that he had taken two trips to the high stakes mecca that is Bobby's Room at the Bellagio Casino in Las Vegas over the last week, but found that "there is absolutely nothing going on, not even a game with lesser limits".
He suggested that the economy, the internet and tournaments have all taken their toll on high stakes cash games, but the lack of someone to start a game has also had an impact.
"High stakes poker really misses Chip Reese," Brunson remarked.
