Nazari still on top in POY competition

Poorya Nazari still leads the way in Card Player's player of the year (POY) competition as the first month of 2009 comes to a close.
The Canadian's victory in the European Poker Tour (EPT) Caribbean Adventure has left him top on 3,000 points, 500 and 1,000 points ahead of that event's second and third place finishers Anthony Gregg and Benjamin Spindler respectively.
Stewart Scott's win in the Aussie Millions main event has sent him into fourth position on 1,920 points - equal with Moritz Kranich, the EPT Deauville champion.
Southern Poker Championship main event winner Allen Carter is sixth on 1,680 points, followed by Peter Rho (1,600), Arnaud Esquevin (1,600), Alexandre Gomes (1,500) and Tristan Clemencon (1,482).
Among the big names inside the top 25 is the reigning World Series of Poker main event titlist Peter Eastgate.
He is 12th on 1,296 points, thanks to his win in one of the preliminary tournaments at the EPT Caribbean Adventure.
