Despite no long being a World Poker Tour (WPT) competition, the main event of this year's Borgata Winter Open can be deemed "a huge success", according to Roy Winston.
The Oracle wrote in his Card Player blog that with 1,017 people taking part to create a first-place prize worth over $657,000, the tournament can definitely be judged to be a hit.
Winston took part in day 1b himself, along with his friend Jay Berger.
Both players successfully made it through to day two, although Winston claimed to have "spent most of the day struggling" before finishing with an average chip stack.
Winston is known to be a big fan of playing poker at the Borgata and achieved his best ever finish at the venue in 2007, when he was crowned WPT Borgata Poker Open champion.
He elected to compete in the winter series instead of travelling to Melbourne for the Aussie Millions, which attracted a large number of the world's best-known card sharps, including Tom Dwan and Patrik Antonius.
