Negreanu reveals WSOP plans

2009-01-28 12:04:59

Daniel Negreanu has revealed which events at this year's World Series of Poker (WSOP) he plans to take part in as he hunts his fifth gold bracelet.

The Canadian stated in his Full Contact Poker blog that he is interested in competing in 27 tournaments in total, although given the overlapping nature of many of them, the number will probably be less in reality.

Seven of the competitions will be no-limit Texas hold'em - a game he has never won a bracelet at - six will be mixed games, four will be limit hold'em and all other poker variants will be two or less.

Negreanu won his first tournament playing pot-limit hold'em in 1998 and picked up his second victory at the world's most prestigious poker series in a SHOE event five years later.

His latest two wins were in limit hold'em in 2004 and 2008 respectively. He has often claimed limit hold'em is one of his best games because he has the patience required to do well at it.
