Amarillo Slim tops best prop bet list

Amarillo Slim's pledge to drive a golf ball a distance of one mile or more has topped a list of the best proposition bets made by high-stakes poker players compiled by Poker News.
The Poker Hall of Fame member, who backed his claim with a wager totalling $40,000, attracted a number of takers for his bet - many of whom thought they would be walking away with money in their pocket.
But Slim - who had agreed to use a PGA-approved golf club and a regulation tee for the feat - outwitted the crowd when he teed up on the edge of a large frozen lake.
Onlookers watched Slim's ball bounce for more than 1.5 miles across the icy surface.
However, Slim - who has previously won a total of four World Series of Poker bracelets - is not the only player to win a golf-themed proposition bet.
Double World Poker Tour champion Erick Lindgren successfully shot four rounds of golf, carrying his own clubs and breaking 100 on each round in 100-degree F heat - winning a $340,000 bet.
