Blogger 'looking forward to fast-action badugi'

2009-03-02 17:33:19

Badugi is a game which is great fun to play and is proving very popular online, one expert has said.

In an article posted on his blog, Daniel Negreanu admits that although he is looking forward to taking on Barry Greenstein and others in a number of other poker variants, the fast-paced game could be another highlight.

In addition to hold 'em, razz, pot-limit Omaha and two seven triple draw, he states players should try taking part in badugi as it is "catching on fast in a lot of card rooms - especially in California".

However, he notes the game can be "very swingy" and this level of action may put some players off as "you can win or lose big numbers in a hurry".

Badugi can be played in limit, pot-limit or half-limit games, with players taking part in three-card drawing rounds. Each of these allows the existing hand to be retained or individual cards to be replaced.

The aim is to have the lowest four-card hand with no cards of the same value or from the same suit.
