Expert predicts TV game’s ‘ones to watch’

2009-03-05 16:03:50

With $1.5 million up for grabs, one expert has advised what some of the highlights of this weekend’s Head’s Up Poker Championship could be.

The NBC televised event is described by gaming guru Gary Trask as an opportunity for some of poker’s most “flamboyant” and talented players to show off their skills.

In his blog for Casino City Times, he states there are ten contenders sure to have some serious entertainment value, “because like any high-profile profession, the egos and pride that the top players in the sport possess are enormous”.

Doyle Brunson, Clonie Gowen, Gabe Kaplan, Ivan Demidov, Peter Eastgate and Phil Hellmuth will be among the big-hitters, he adds, but notes names like Scotty Nguyen, Phil Ivey, Chris Ferguson and Tom Dwan will also be favourites.

“There's no question Dwan is one of the top online players in the world,” Mr Trask concludes.

However, Poker-king recently reported that Dwan had started the year badly, losing out on somewhere in the region of $3.5 million.
