Poker game 'cures' poker legend's ills

2009-03-12 16:57:08

A poker legend has spoken of his recent sadness and how this was lifted by the game.

In his latest blog post for Card Player, Doyle Brunson states that having recently complained about how bad he was feeling, a good game of poker has cured his ills.

He adds although the number of cash games and tournaments he is involved with at the moment is limited, a trip to the NBC Heads Up Championship has made him "feel like a 30-year-old again".

Despite this, Doyle admits he was beaten on his first match at the event but was back the next day and the day after to take part in "a nice cash game".

"I need to keep playing and remember an old Texas saying - 'Burn brightly but don't burn out'," he adds.

Huck Seed was the eventual winner of the NBC Heads Up Championship, having beat Vanessa Rousso in the finals.

Brunson recently advised he believed Rousso would on the scene for a while yet.
