Hoang Nguyen leads after Bay 101 day 1a

Hoang Nguyen finished day 1a of the World Poker Tour (WPT) Bay 101 Shooting Star event in San Jose last night as the chip leader.
The unheralded player will take 198,300 chips with him through to day two, according to chip counts on the WPT website, putting him 37,700 ahead of double World Series of Poker bracelet holder David Pham in second.
Pham has never won a WPT title before, but has reached seven final tables and earned more than $2 million on the Tour since its inception.
WPT player of the year Jonathan Little ended the day's play with 121,300 chips, giving him the fourth largest stack, while Chad Brown also ranked inside the top ten in ninth with 77,900.
Annie Duke, Daniel Alaei, Freddy Deeb, Hoyt Corkins and Erick Lindgren are among the other notables set to return for day two, while Phil Hellmuth, Mike Matusow, Layne Flack, John Juanda and Erik Seidel are some of the big names who went to the rail early.
