Top players remain in Wynn Classic

2009-03-18 15:32:30

There are still several big names left in the $10,000 Wynn Classic championship event after day two.

Card Player magazine reports that World Poker Tour final tablist Evan McNiff, World Series of Poker bracelet holder Praz Bansi and 2007 Aussie Millions main event runner-up Jimmy Fricke are all still in the competition, with 11 players left to be eliminated before the champion is crowned.

Ed Perry is the chip leader with a stack of 589,700, followed by Justin Newton (419,600) and Alex Melnikow (407,500).

Kyle Wilson is fourth (392,700) ahead of McNiff (321,500) and Fricke (304,400).

Fricke was involved in arguably the most controversial hand of the day when Scott Seiver eliminated himself.

Seiver, a WSOP bracelet holder himself, mucked a pair of twos against Fricke after going all-in before realising that his opponent only had ace-high.

It was decided that as Seiver did not table the cards before they went into the muck, the pot belonged to Fricke.
