Nguyen aiming high for WSOP

2009-03-24 12:19:14

Scotty Nguyen has claimed that if he does not win $4 million at this year's World Series of Poker (WSOP) he will quit the sport.

The five-time WSOP bracelet holder said in a video interview on the Poker Listings website that he is targeting the massive windfall this summer and vowed to retire if he fails to achieve his goal.

Nguyen's ambition has been met with skepticism by many within the poker community, given that it has taken him 13 years to earn $4,694,049 at the WSOP.

In order to earn such an amount of money in one series he would have to either finish inside the top three of the main event or stage one of the best performances in the history of the competition with a multitude of tournament victories.

Nguyen is currently the fifth biggest money winner in the history of poker, according to the Hendon Mob, and $4 million would send him to the top of the rankings.
