Jamie Gold has stated that he is playing better live tournament poker at the minute than he has since 2006, when he won the World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event.
In his Bluff Magazine blog, the card sharp said that he is looking forward to the start of the WSOP next month and suggested he is hoping to do well.
"I think I am playing my best tournament poker since 2006, we will see after a few more tournaments how I am feeling," he remarked.
Gold's victory in the 2006 WSOP main event remains the biggest win in poker history, earning him $12 million in prize money.
It was also good enough to give him a place in Bluff's countdown of the top 40 greatest WSOP champions, which is currently running on the official WSOP website.
Gold was 40th on the list, behind Carolyn Gardner, O'Neil Longson, Puggy Pearson and Nani Dollison.
